After successfully completing the Bar Professional Training Course, Zara will be Called to the Bar in November 2020. Zara currently works as a caseworker in Anti-Human Trafficking and has recently been elected as a co-chair in the Equality & Diversity Taskforce which will look at creating anti-racist policy in the workplace, exploring the recruitment and rentention in the organisation and looking to develop training workshops for staff and clients in relation to racism. Her previous experiences include working as an Investigation Officer for South Yorkshire Police and as a Voluntary Counsellor for Child Line. Her work included dealing with sexual offences against children, domestic violence and female gential mutilation. She further went to compelte a Postgraduate Certificate in Investigations of Vulnerabilities Crime to develop her learning and allow her to implement her knowledge into practice. Zara’s journey to Law began when she found herself constantly being excluded in school, from constantly arguing with her teachers, she used her voice for the better good and sought a career as a Barrister. Zara aspires to be the voice for the under-represented and continue serving the public. In January 2020, Zara was the winner of The Violet Reece Prize award where she received a cash price and coaching skills workshop as a new professional in her career. The prize recognises the core values of persistence, resilience and doing your best within your career. Zara’s long term vision is to become a Barrister in common law. Having a vast amount of experience in different areas of law, She is able to use this to her advantage as she has been able to adapt and become versatile in her surroundings.
