The UK’s points-based Immigration System: Why is it a big deal?

The Immigration and Social Security Coordination (EU Withdrawal) Bill 2020, or in short, the UK’s points-based immigration system is making its way through Parliament. If successful, it will come into force on 1st January 2021, after the end of transition period. It will put an end to free movement of people, as EU and non-EU citizens will be treated equally. I sat down to discuss how the system will operate, alternative routes of entry into the UK, criminality, and demonstrated the overarching impact of the bill upon our healthcare and social care sector.
